What the numbers mean in plain English
The franchise fee is the smallest part. Most of the $850Kโ$1.47M goes into the build-out: ovens, mixers, the open-kitchen layout, signage, and a few months of working capital. Prime retail space and a drive-thru push you toward the top of the range.
Royalties come off the top line, not profit. An 8% royalty plus 2% marketing means about 10 cents of every dollar of sales goes to Crumbl before you pay rent, payroll and ingredients. On a store doing about $1.1M a year, that's roughly $110,000 annually.
Average sales are not profit. The FDD's sales figure is gross revenue. Your actual earnings depend on rent, labor (Crumbl stores are labor-heavy because everything is baked fresh), ingredient costs and local demand.
Before signing, call at least five current franchisees from the FDD's contact list โ including some in markets like yours โ and ask what their sales did after the first year. Several stores have closed since 2023 (see our closures report), so ask why.
Can you open a Crumbl in Saudi Arabia, Dubai or elsewhere abroad?
The U.S. FDD covers U.S. franchising. International markets โ including the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and the UAE โ are typically handled through separate development agreements with large regional operators rather than individual franchisees. If you're outside the U.S., the realistic path is to contact Crumbl's franchising team directly and ask whether a master franchise partner already holds your country.
Questions to ask before you invest
- Is my preferred territory available, and how protected is it from another Crumbl opening nearby?
- What do franchisees in similar-sized markets actually net after year two?
- What remodel or equipment upgrades will be required during the term?
- How are weekly menu changes, packaging and promotions charged to franchisees?
